Preparation 6th World Water Forum

The WWF organising committee is preparing work for the 6th World Water Forum, to be held in Marseille, France in March 2011. The ECRR was asked to become, together with EWA and ONEMA, the lead partner for the theme: 'Protect and restore rivers and water ecosystems to reach a good ecological status of European water bodies'.

The International Forum Committee (IFC) for Europe has identified 12 themes, around which working groups are formed to identify the key priorities for each theme, what targets need to be set and what measures are needed to achieve these targets. The IFC Europe has suggested a number of measures related to each theme, that are to be assessed and discussed in the working groups. The output of the forum will come in the shape of a list of 12 draft targets, and a step by step action plan.

Each thematic working groups consist of one or two lead organisations, and a number of member organisations. ECRR will shortly start seeking organisations that are interested in participating. For more information and expressions of interest contact ECRR
