ECRR Technical Newsletter August 2026

The issue highlights how restoration is increasingly shaped by integrated catchment thinking, stakeholder and community engagement, nature-based solutions, and the practical exchange of knowledge between projects, practitioners and river basin organisations.

The OPTAIN Project article adds a complementary perspective by addressing natural water retention measures and their role in building more resilient catchments.

LIFE WADER, meanwhile, brings attention to wetland and wader habitatrestoration, demonstrating the close connection between river systems, floodplains, biodiversity and landscapescale recovery.

The Dordogne contribution focuses on stakeholder and community in-volvement, public participation and communication around river restoration, including the preparation of the ECRR network study tour planned forSeptember 2026. It shows how shared learning in the field can supportwider understanding of restoration challenges and opportunities.
