European River Restoration Conference 2013 in Vienna

The keynote sessions, case studies, best practices, knowledge sharing, tools and networking opportunities will be indispensable for including river restoration in policies and practices in Europe. View the programme.

 

Featuring the 1st European Riverprize
The conference includes a gala dinner to announce the winner of the 1st European Riverprize. The International River Foundation (IRF) is inaugurating the award to highlight the importance of integrated river basin management in Europe.

 

A field trip excursion to an important restoration site is included with registration

·          Morava River Restoration - see the heart of the Morava floodplains, the WWF nature reserve near Marchegg, including vast hardwood floodplain forests, alluvial meadows and the largest tree-breeding colony of White Storks in Central Europe.

·          National Park Donau-Auen river restoration - visit one of the largest and most successful restoration projects in Europe: the revitalization of river banks along the Danube River and the reconnection of side arms.

·          Good practices for fish migration at hydropower plants - explore solutions for fish migration at two hydropower plants on the Danube in Vienna and further upstream in the world famous ‘Wachau Valley’.
