Guided site visits on alluvial habitat restoration, river dynamics and sediment‑driven channel recovery

The Open Study Tour in the Dordogne River Valley (28–30 September 2026) offers a field‑based learning opportunity centred on how ecological river restoration is delivered through hydromorphological change and sediment dynamics in a large alluvial river corridor. Participants will begin with a short shared introduction and an overview of the LIFE Dordogne River Programme, followed by guided site visits and facilitated discussion designed to turn real project experiences into transferable lessons.

Today in a special session at the, virtually held, European River Symposium 2021, an ECRR report was launched.

Sharelle Verheij, the implementer of the survey and the main author of the report presented the results of the survey to a professional river restoration audience of policy makers, planners, researchers, and river restoration practitioners at the European River Symposium 2021.
