Early bird deadline + Update on 50th ISOCARP Congress, Gdynia, Poland, Sept 2014

Dear Colleague,

We are pleased to share the following congress update with you:

 

Keynote speakers: 
Francesco Bandarin, France, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Culture; Professor of Urban Planning at the University Institute of Architecture of Venice
Alex Krieger, USA, Principal architecture and urban design studio of NBBJ; professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Design
Meera Mehta, India, Professor Emeritus CEPT University, Ahmedabad
Pawel Orlowski, Poland, undersecretary of state in the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development.

 

Waterfront Planning Marathon:
Nine waterfronts were selected to be presented in a plenary session. The best one will be awarded by a jury and the best presentation will be chosen by the congress audience.

 

Awards for Excellence:
Another plenary session will be devoted to the winners of the Awards for Excellence. Please inform your colleagues about the possibility to submit an innovative urban and regional initiative in relation to the congress theme.
 

Parallel Sessions:
A record number of abstracts of more than 300 was submitted this year. General Rapporteur Amos Brandeis and his congress team selected about 150 professional papers to be presented in the following tracks:
•          Urban Design, Landscape and Livable Cities
•          Social Aspects, Collaborations and Governance
•          Economic, Leisure and Tourism Aspects
•          Water Management
•          Environment, Ecosystem and Climate Change
•          Ports, Transportation and Infrastructures.

 

For each track one of the papers was selected as track keynote speech. On top of these Olivier Lemaire, Assocation Internationale des Villes Portuaires, France, and William Lau, Singapore Institute of Planners, will present track keynote speeches.
 
Launch of the 50th anniversary celebrations of ISOCARP

We hope that many of you will join us in the launch of the 50th anniversary celebrations of ISOCARP. In this special session some of our former Presidents will be present.
