RESTORE and NLA take to the Thames

Over 70 representatives from London’s planning and architecture sector joined RESTORE for an afternoon on the Thames in August.  The event was co-hosted and organised with New London Architecture, who work to promote London's architecture, planning and development sectors.

River Rhine wins the first IRF European Riverprize

International RiverFoundation has awarded the inaugural IRF European Riverprize to the River Rhine.

The award was presented at the Riverprize Gala Dinner in Vienna on Thursday 12 September. The IRF European Riverprize is worth €40,000 and is sponsored by Coca-Cola Europe.

River restoration after June floods in Europe ?

Following  flooding across much of Europe in June the idea of integrating rivers back into their natural floodplains is being more widely discussed. An article in Spiegel Online looks at the effects of fthe flooding in Germany and asks whether governments are looking more seriously at river restoration.

8th Symposium for European Freshwater Sciences.

8th Symposium for European Freshwater Sciences, which will be held in Münster, Germany, from July 1-5, 2013.

The meeting is hosted by the German Limnological Society (DGL) in collaboration with the University of Münster (WWU Münster) and co-organized by four regional LIFE+ projects (running water). The organizers are pleased to have the opportunity to convene the conference.

SEFS 8 aims to integrate recent achievements of science from ecological and evolutionary perspectives to promote innovative solutions for the sustainable management of our freshwaters in the face of increasing environmental pressures. The guiding theme is "Freshwater science for nature and society".
